Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for these posts must satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Goa University, and the Government of Goa.

The candidate should possess:

  • A Master's Degree in the relevant or allied subject with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized Indian or accredited foreign university.

In addition to the above qualification, the candidate should satisfy either of the following conditions.

Option A

The candidate must have qualified:

  • National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC.
  • State Eligibility Test (SET).
  • CSIR NET where applicable.

Candidates awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and subsequent amendments are exempted from the requirement of NET/SET, provided they satisfy the prescribed conditions.

For candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009, exemption from NET/SET will be governed by the applicable UGC regulations and institutional statutes.

The following conditions must have been fulfilled for Ph.D. exemption:

  • The Ph.D. degree should have been awarded in regular mode.
  • The thesis must have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
  • An open Ph.D. viva voce should have been conducted.
  • The candidate should have published at least two research papers from the Ph.D. work, with at least one published in a refereed journal.
  • The candidate should have presented at least two research papers based on the Ph.D. work in conferences, seminars, or similar academic events sponsored or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or similar organizations.
  • The fulfillment of these conditions should be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the concerned university.

NET/SET shall not be required for Master's programmes in disciplines where these examinations are not conducted by UGC, CSIR, or an equivalent accredited agency.

Candidates having publications in peer-reviewed journals approved by Goa University or UGC-listed journals will be considered desirable.

Option B

Candidates possessing a Ph.D. degree from a foreign university or institution ranked among the Top 500 universities in the world by any of the following ranking agencies are also eligible:

  • Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
  • Times Higher Education (THE)
  • Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Additional Mandatory Requirements

Apart from the academic qualifications, the college has specified the following mandatory requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of residence in Goa.
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential.
  • Knowledge of Marathi is desirable.
